RIG COMPONENTS

The different Components of a Rig include the crown block and water table. This is actually a collection of sheaves or pulleys that are mounted on beams at the top of the derrick. The drilling line runs over the sheaves down to the hoisting drum. Rig Components also include the catline boom and hoist line which is a structural framework that is hoisted at the top of the derrick for lifting purposes. A drilling line is a wire rope that is used to reeve on the sheaves of a crown block or traveling block which is actually a block or a tackle.

Components and their Uses for Various Purposes

Components like the drilling line are used to hoist or lower a casing or drill pipe from or into a well. Moreover, a wire rope is used for supporting the drilling tools. Rig parts like the monkey board is used as the derrick man’s work platform. It comprises the double board, triple board as well as a four board. The monkey board is located at a particular height in the derrick or mast, and is the same as single, double or triple pipes. The traveling block is a mechanism of pulleys through which the drilling cable is sheaved and it moves up and down the mast or derrick.

Rig Components like the top drive helps in the rotation of the drill string end bit without using a Kelly or rotary table. The console operates the top drive from a rig floor. The mast is a portable derrick that can be erected as a unit. Rig parts are different from a standard derrick that is immobile. Components like the drill pipe are a heavy seamless tube that rotates the bit as well as circulates the fluid within. A small enclosure called the doghouse is used on the rigs’ floor for the driller or as a storehouse for small objects.

Powering and Running of the Oil Engine Generators

Rig oil parts take into account the blowout preventer that is a large valve usually installed above the ram preventers and helps form the annular space between the well bore and the pipe. The Rig Components include the water tanks that store water for the mixing of mud, cleaning of the rig and cementing. The electric cable tray supports the heavy electrical cables that feed the power from the control panel to the rig motors.

Rig oil drilling is also done with the help of the engine generator sets that produce power within the drilling rigs with the diesel or LPG or natural gas. The engine generator sets can also comprise gasoline engines. Components include the newer rigs that power the other parts of the motor. The fuel storage tanks generate power.
