Ethiopia is moving ahead with the construction of Africa’s largest hydro-power dam and the filling of a reservoir. The Nile River is a source of life for several African countries.
The people of Ethiopia are highly initiated to finalize the construction of the dam with an intention that “The dam construction will never stop for a second.” The first power-generating trials will start after the rainy season. Eventually the dam should have a capacity of 6,000 megawatts. Although construction is less than half-done, the project will be completed in 2017.
In the last four years, the works of mobilization, camp construction and erection of plants had been undertaken. Now all activities are channeled towards the dam construction. Therefore, currently attention is focused on dam construction. So it is not difficult to finish the dam in a couple of years.
