Cameroon has raised the base salary for government workers and the military, entering negotiations with transport workers in an effort to stop potential social unrest, according to .

The fuel subsidies on petrol, diesel and cooking gas were reportedly cancelled last week in an attempt to cut costs – pushing up the price of petrol by 14 percent and diesel by 15 percent, and gas by 8 percent.
